Ketelhuis Expat
In 1961, the city of Oldenzaal is shaken by the arrival of a large group of Italian employees who are called upon to provide the quickly surprising textile industry with extra hands. The Italians work hard, don’t complain and steal the hearts of the girls from Twente. Meanwhile, the young worker Johanna is looking for freedom and tries to rise up against social conditions. The decorative tensions between the people of Twente and the newcomers ultimately lead to the historic ‘Spaghetti Riots’. Together with her new lover Francesco, Johanna finds herself in the eye of the storm.
