Belgium, 1995. The disturbing disappearance of two girls has the entire country in its grip, and causes an unprecedented media circus. The Belgian police have been in the dark for months, much to the indignation of the population. Paul Chartier, a young, idealistic police officer, is recruited for the secret operation ‘Maldoror’, charged with surveillance of the previously convicted sex offender Marcel Dedieu. While team Maldoror collects one clue after another, Chartier and his colleagues are unable to make any progress due to the completely dysfunctional police system. When even more girls disappear, Chartier has only one option: to start a manhunt himself.
